How to register a domain Print

Registering a domain is often one of the first steps in setting up your new website. On the Redsteps Web system, this is a very simple process!

1. Log into your account.

2. Once you are on the home page of your account, you will see a side panel. Click on “Register a New Domain”.

3. On the top of the page, you will see a spot to type in your new domain. Remember, a domain looks like yournewdomainname.com.au. The pricing of our most popular domains is as follows:

1. .com.au domain is $12 a year
2. .com domain is $16 a year
3. .co.nz domain is $20 a year
4. .com.uk domain is $13 a year

4. Once you have typed in your domain name, the system will check whether the domain is available for purchase. 

5. If your domain name is available, the system will come up with the message “Congratulations! yournewdomainname.com.au is available!” To proceed, click on the “Add to cart” and then “Checkout”.

6. You will now be led onto the next page to fill out your details and set up the details of your new domain. 

1. Tick all 3 options for DNS Management, ID Protection & Email Forwarding. All 3 options are free and add to the options on how you can use your domain name.
2. Registrant Name: Your name.
3. Registrant ID: Your business’ ABN or ACN.
4. Registrant ID Type: Depending on the details you entered for your Registrant ID, this will be either “ABN” or “ACN”.
5. Eligibility Name: This is your business name.
6. Eligibility ID: this is your business ABN or ACN etc.
7. Eligibility ID Type: select from the drop-down list – most commonly Company / Sole Trader.
8. Eligibility Reason: Choose whether your domain is a close match to your business name or if it is linked to your business’ operations. 
9. Nameservers: You can leave this as the default settings.  

7. After you have set up these details, click “Continue” and you will be able to review your order and complete the checkout process.

Please note that these instructions are just for registering your domain name. You might also want to set up hosting, which is the space your website will live in.
